Second innoweek took place at the DRL

The second innovation week is over. The Department of Romance Languages of the Prague University of Economics and Business has prepared a lot of great events for you, let’s remember them.

The rich programme started with an interactive lecture with a competitive quiz in Italian. Mrs. Silvia Corghi from the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce introduced the students to her agenda and highlighted the importance of knowing Italian. The winners of the competition took home nice prizes. Grazie mille!

As part of the Innovation Week, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Chile in Prague, Mr. Carlos Gajarda, was also invited to the Department and we would like to thank him very much for his excellent lecture in Spanish. More than a hundred students present appreciated his engaging presentation based on questions sent to him in advance. There were debates on various economic topics and interesting facts that cannot be read in publications but must be experienced. Muchas gracias a la Embajada de Chile en la República Checa!

In addition to the lecture on Chile, Spanish students had the opportunity to learn more about the different parts of the DELE international language exam and to take a mock test with experts from the Instituto Cervantes de Praga. The hands-on event attracted more than 30 Spanish students who are planning to take the B2 or C1 level exams. We hope that this experience gave them the courage and motivation to take the exams. Information on the DELE exams can be found here: https://kroj.vse.cz/english/international-language-certificates/spanish/dele-2/dele/

The busy Wednesday programme was rounded off by the Romanesque plays. The first informal meeting of this type attracted French and Spanish speakers. Secret Code, Dobble, Taboo and other language games were played, and the DRL teachers were happy to help or participate directly in the games. Many thanks to everyone for their participation, we will definitely repeat the event in one of the next innovation weeks, hopefully in a quadrilingual version.

The wide range of the Innovation Week programme ended on Thursday with the Department’s French-language event Rendez-vous à la française. More than 300 students from PUEB, pedagogical faculties from Brno and Hradec Králové as well as from grammar schools in Prague took part, which made not only us happy, but also the Ambassador of France in the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Alexis Dutertre, who came with a lecture “La France, pays de l’innovation”. The whole event was introduced by the Vice-Rector Hana Machková, who introduced the PUEB and the IFTG. Students could then meet with representatives of French companies operating in the Czech Republic or participate in a variety of workshops focused on simulating the oral exam of the Paris Chamber of Commerce, writing a CV in French, simulating an interview with representatives of HR Path, Mazars and the Czech-French Chamber of Commerce, or study and internship opportunities in France.

We would like to thank all partners and students for the great participation and we are looking forward to the next time.
